Outdoor Research: a history of innovation

OR was founded by Ron Gregg, a nuclear physicist, who saw a faulty pair of gaiters end a friend’s summit bid on a glacier near Danali. As Ron headed back down alone, he envisioned a functional solution to the gear problem, and the idea for an innovative, research-led outdoor brand was born. Based in Seattle, OR products are put through their paces by a team of word-class mountain athletes.
